Between 1957
and 1966, Dr. Pierre Dansereau, recognized as one of the pillars of the ecology field in
Quebec as well as in several countries, compiled 27 laws of ecology.
The reference book "THE COMPLETE ECOLOGY FACTBOOK", published by
Doubleday (New York 1972), reprinted Dansereau's compilation. The French translation done by Dansereau was first published in Montreal in
1972.
In order to make the laws more accessible, with Professor
Dansereau's blessing, we present here the laws accompanied by poems
by Hortense Michaud-Lalanne. The English versions of the poems were adapted by Donald Pistolesi.
The illustrations are by
Adèle Labrèche Michaud
and the photos by Mario Lalanne.
The poems are easy to rap, but for fans of choral music, the composer Alain Payette* has put all the
poems to music under the title FAUNAFLORATORIO.
